According to the guys over on the Headstrong Blog regular brain exercise can most certainly reverse ageing.
Thinking this over the other day it struck me that, on average, scientists, philosophers and mystics live longer than the rest of us.
Have a look at these examples, bearing in mind that life expectancy was lower then than now, when these people were
alive.
- Bertrand Russell 98
- Bernard Shaw - 93
- John Dewey 92
- Michelangelo 88
- Jung 86
- Isaac Newton 85
- Edison 84
- Freud 83
- Goethe 82
- Gandhi 77 (who was shot!)
I can see a lot of similarities here. I am listing them out below as things to do if you want to reverse the ageing process.
Work is play. All these men were workaholics. But in their case their jobs weren't 'work', they were activities they loved doing.
Variety. Russell was a mathematician, philosopher, writer, politician, campaigner and teacher, as well as a sex addict.
Creativity. This could be the most important as creativity produces stimulation, which, in turn, triggers neurogenesis - the faster renewal and replacement of brain cells.
Passion. All of them were passionate people. That drove them on to make new discoveries in their specialist fields. And fed them a constant diet of ecstasy. And more neurogenesis.
