Readers who saw my blog a few weeks ago on motivation will not be asking the stupid question: 'How did England motivate themselves to go from a 0-36 defeat against South Africa to the Rugby World Cup Final today?'
That's because you all know that there is no such thing as motivation.
So how did England do it?
Well, there are a few lessons we can take from the way these heroes have performed.
1. You have to be desperate. It's a bit like an alcoholic who has to end up in the gutter before she decides to give up. When you hit the bottom the only way is up. That's where England were after that defeat against South Africa.
2. You need leaders. After the match against Tonga, England still hadn't played that well. And there was Jonny Wilkinson snapping his fingers, calling the squad together, going through their collective mistakes and telling them what he wanted to see next time out. And now we have 22 leaders - every man in the squad wants to win that bad.
3. Straight talking. From all accounts some of the talk-back in the England dressing room after the games has been unprintable. And that includes what they thought of the job the coach was doing. Without honesty you can't even begin to change what you are doing.
4. Stick to what you know best. England are a team of brawlers - in scrums, rucks and mauls. And they have one of the game's all-time great great kickers to get them points. When they went back to playing their strengths they started to win again.
5. Audacity. No one expected England to take the game to the Australians. But they took them by the throat from the start and never let go. The Australians were demoralised after that first twenty minutes.
6. Bloody-mindedness. We saw that against the Australians and even more so against the French. The England players looked like they would rather go to hospital than let the other side through.
7. Emotion. This is the most important. You have to have a passion for what you do. So great a passion that, for a while, nothing else matters but winning.
If these heroes win the final they will become immortals. How badly do you want that lads?
